Mike has been investing risk capital and working collaboratively with small and medium enterprises for over three decades and is currently the Director of Innovation with Bioenterprise Corporation (BE), a not-for-profit focused on helping Agri-Food companies commercialize. Prior to joining BE in 2020, he spent eight years as a Partner with Avrio Capital, one of Canada’s first private equity funds exclusively focused on Agriculture and Food. He also has extensive experience across various industries and company stages from both his time in senior positions with family offices (Werklund Capital and Cavendish Investing) as well as with BMO Capital and TD Capital. Mike considers himself a practical and principled businessman with excellent communication skills, and whose varied experiences, coupled with a robust corporate governance background makes him well-suited to work through business challenges. Mike has a M.Sc. Finance from Loyola University, and an undergraduate degree from Western University.
