Khalid helps start-ups bring cash into their companies, via customers and dilutive and non-dilutive funding. Over a 14-year career, Khalid has been focused on capital raising, sales and product development. After spending 3-years developing neurology and oncology drugs for big pharma, Khalid worked for two university spin-off companies, IntelliView Technologies (IIoT & Data Analytics) and AdvEN Industries (Advanced Materials), both disruptive energy technology companies. Khalid was the longest standing sales rep at IntelliView, were he sold direct to oil and gas companies as well as built a reseller network.
Prior, to running business development for Innovate Calgary where he originated the organization’s largest sales and partnership deals with RBC and Telus, he was at TEC Edmonton helping a portfolio of tech companies with product management, primary market research, acquiring their lead customers and raising >$17M in equity capital. After spending 4-years at Innovate Calgary, Khalid led a clean tech accelerator focused on methane emissions and bio-industrial technologies. Most recently Khalid was a partner at Business Development Bank of Canada’s (BDC) Advisory Services, where he was ranked top 5 for sales amongst 58 partners across Canada. At BDC, he built a management consulting book of business focused on high tech and oilfield services. Today, Khalid leads Niva Technologies as its President, a company focused on building robots in the cloud to tackle the need for business process automation at a fraction of the cost of present-day technologies. Outside of work, Khalid is an active athlete, mountain biker, skier and foodie.
