About BioMimir

BioMimir is a pre-seed medical device start-up. They design, develop, and commercialize biomaterials solutions for regenerative medicine applications.

Their first product is a flexible, elastic hydrogel that functions as a wound sealant, wound filler, and tissue regenerating solution. The biomaterial is a biodegradable, non-toxic hydrogel whose elastic properties are tuneable to specific wounds and tissue types (e.g., skin, muscle, cornea).

BioMimir was accepted in the Life Sciences Fellowship in March 2022

About Fiona

Fiona received her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the Université de Montréal. Her graduate thesis is on biomimetic materials for in situ corneal regeneration. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology from McMaster University in 2007. Fiona has served as the director of the OPhthalmic Tissue Engineering Cleanrooms (OPTEC) at Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont since its inception in 2018. She has also worked as a technician for the manufacture of ISO 13485:2016 compliant medical devices.
