Bert Backman-Beharry is a professional engineer and economist who has worked in both the private and public sectors over the last forty years, providing leadership on major corporate and business development opportunities and government-industry initiatives in various sectors including transportation, energy, telecommunications, information services and health care in Canada and internationally. His training and experience have been multidisciplinary to the Doctorate level in engineering, economics and business at the Universities of London, Waterloo (Canada), Harvard and Stanford (USA).

In the private sector, his executive leadership and management roles for over 25 years have focused on the alignment of strategy development with implementation, on privatization, organization restructuring and on developing innovative business opportunities. In the public sector, he has worked at senior levels with both the provincial and federal governments on policy analyses related to energy/environment, communications/information technology and aboriginal business development.

He has extensive experience with different cultures and with Boards of Directors, operates out of Calgary as a management consultant on information and communications technologies, energy/environmental and public policy issues, and as a mentor in the environmental, technology commercialization and aboriginal sectors for the last 15+ years.
