The Moment: Why Now?
Calgary’s startup ecosystem is booming. Valued at $2.7 billion, it’s on track to add 1,000 new tech companies by 2030. We’re now one of North America’s top tech hubs, attracting talent and venture capital at an impressive rate. As our city grows, we have an opportunity to do things differently. Many innovation ecosystems, and the cities in which they’re embedded, have struggled with inequality, housing issues, and community division. We can learn from them, be dauntless, build strategically, and make different choices– —creating an ecosystem that works for everyone.
Why Us?
Social Innovation Hub (SIH), supports those who bring new, unexpected solutions to the table. We work with founders from diverse communities, non-profits with bold ideas, and researchers and innovators focused on impact. Over the past three years, we’ve supported over 250 founders who are tackling today’s pressing challenges and driving the change we need. Our unique approach combines venture-building tools, social innovation practices, and the powerful resources of the University of Calgary to help these solutions grow.
