The Social Innovation Hub’s Nonprofit Listening Session made the picture clearer than ever. Leaders discussed and vocalized their needs, and now it’s time for actionable support. That’s why we’re launching the Mission to Market Hackathon 2.0 this fall.
This isn’t just another event. It’s a tool designed through direct input from nonprofits that’s tailored to help them explore and test financial models. Alongside students, mentors and ecosystem partners, nonprofits are going to be navigating what it takes to enterprise and build sustainable business models.
Nonprofits are under constant pressure to do more with less. Funding is delayed or missing, operational needs go unsupported, but yet the expectation to remain mission-driven and provide their service sustainably only continues to grow.
The hackathon was created to address this issue. It gives nonprofits an opportunity to gain additional support working on long-term sustainability. Through hands-on support nonprofits can expect to develop a sustainable and realistic business model that allows them to stay mission-driven while ensuring their longevity.
Nonprofit participants will be matched with a team of 3-4 students from diverse backgrounds to refine their business model. Over the course of the hackathon you’ll:
- Develop and refine a sustainable business model that can generate revenue
- Validate the concept with market research and strategic insights
- Receive expert mentorship and guidance throughout the process
- Compete for a $15,000 financial award to help implement your solution
This is a direct response to some of the pressing needs our nonprofit community is expressing. It’s a hands-on collaboration to give your team a clear path forward.
If you are a nonprofit organization based in Calgary with a keen interest in enterprising, but need more support and capacity, this is the perfect opportunity. We’re looking for nonprofits ready to work with a team of students with expert guidance and build something actionable.
Applications for the Mission to Market Hackathon 2.0 are now open and close August 15th.
