Founders Showcase Brand Wins at the Social Innovation Hub

The Social Innovation Hub closed out the year with a packed house for its Holiday Party & Build Your Brand Showcase, bringing together founders, mentors, partners, and friends of the hub for an afternoon that mixed celebration with substance. Early-stage companies took the mic for rapid three-minute pitches—spotlighting how the Build Your Brand Bootcamp helped transform ideas into clear, compelling brands.

Branding is often where promising startups stall. Founders know their mission, but turning it into an identity, a credible landing page, and audience-ready messaging takes time and technical know-how. That gap is exactly what the Build Your Brand program set out to close this fall—pairing founders with design, messaging, and strategy support to get tangible assets over the line.

Michelle Wagner, Regional Innovation Network Director at the Calgary Innovation Coalition (CIC), underscored the value of collaboration between the CIC and the Social Innovation Hub in strengthening the region’s social-impact venture ecosystem—connecting founders to people, programs, and ongoing resources that accelerate progress. “Support doesn’t end today,” said Michelle, adding: “There’s still a lot of opportunity for support for each company in the community.”

Across the lightning pitches, teams shared concrete outcomes they’d built during the program:

  • Launch-ready landing pages to validate demand and tell their story
  • Logo refreshes and visual systems that work across channels
  • Sharper positioning and messaging tailored to their ideal customers
  • Actionable brand strategy to guide 2026 go-to-market plans

Startup founder Xolani Ncube highlighted the importance of small wins as a means of building momentum to something bigger.  “Building a landing page was so important and it really was a crucial step toward a full website.” For many, getting from “we know what we want” to “it’s live and working” required hands-on support.

Chantal Palmer, Community Manager, Strategy and Engagement at the Social Innovation Hub, speaking to the group gathered for the event said: “A lot of founders know what they like and what they want, but they don’t have the technical skills to carry it out—that’s where the Social Innovation Hub and the Build Your Brand program come into play.”

Early branding work can feel secondary next to product or fundraising, but it’s often the difference between traction and confusion. As Chantal noted, branding is difficult to tackle when founders are juggling everything else. The program’s aim was simple: help teams communicate what they’re about—clearly and credibly.

The showcase highlighted more than brand assets; it highlighted a network. Founders met future collaborators, mentors saw progress up close, and partners re-connected around a shared goal: helping social-impact companies move faster. The afternoon’s festive energy matched the momentum in the room—and set a confident tone for the year ahead.

Congratulations to all Build Your Brand Bootcamp participants, and thank you to the mentors, partners, and the Social Innovation Hub team who made this cohort possible. Special thanks to CIC’s Michelle Wagner for her remarks and continued collaboration.
