Temi’s entrepreneurial journey and commitment to innovation epitomize the spirit of excellence within the Black professional community. Here are the insightful highlights from our conversation:
The Entrepreneurial Journey
Temi’s journey into entrepreneurship was not instantaneous but rather a gradual realization. Growing up in an environment where traditional career paths were emphasized, Temi’s perspective shifted when he witnessed the success of mentors like Charles Osuji. “Observing his journey closely, I learned that entrepreneurship is attainable,” said Temi. The pivotal moment came during the COVID-induced layoff, coupled with a personal experience highlighting a gap in the market, which propelled Temi to start his own venture, Road Aider.
Calgary’s Business Community
Temi describes Calgary’s business community, particularly the tech ecosystem, as supportive and cohesive. The community’s culture of collaboration and assistance fosters an environment conducive to networking and pursuing entrepreneurial endeavours. Temi added: “The tight-knit nature of the community is evident, with a willingness among its members to offer assistance or introductions whenever needed.”
