Shabnam is passionate about fostering innovation, designing, and prototyping new products and technologies. She holds a Master of Engineering in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Calgary and currently oversees the Rapid Prototyping Labs at the Life Sciences Innovation Hub. Prior to joining Innovate Calgary, she worked as an R&D engineer at a company specializing in the development of medical diagnostic devices and biosensors. She possesses a comprehensive understanding of the entire product development process, ranging from the initial stages of proof of concept and research and development to the final stages of commercialization.
Shabnam possesses extensive knowledge and experience in utilizing various rapid prototyping and manufacturing equipment. Additionally, she is proficient in utilizing multiple computer software programs for preparing 3D design files and processing them to generate the G-codes required for operating 3D printers (FDM/SLA/SLS), CNC machines, and laser cutters. She excels at troubleshooting the prototyping process and optimizing both the design and machine settings to achieve optimal results when working with different materials using rapid prototyping equipment.
