Shabnam is passionate about fostering innovation and designing and prototyping new products and technologies. She holds a Master of Engineering in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Calgary and currently oversees the operations of the LSIH and AIH shared labs. In this role, she leads the team that manages the prototyping labs, machine shop, and biology and wet labs.
Prior to joining Innovate Calgary, she worked as an R&D engineer at a company specializing in medical diagnostic devices and biosensors. She has a comprehensive understanding of the entire product development process, from design, proof of concept and research and development to final commercialization.
Shabnam also has extensive experience with a wide range of prototyping and manufacturing equipment. She is proficient in multiple computer software programs for preparing 3D design files and generating G-codes for 3D printers (FDM/SLA/SLS), CNC machines, and laser cutters. She excels at troubleshooting and optimizing both designs and machine settings to achieve the best results across various materials using rapid prototyping technologies.
