The LSI Hub welcomed Iraina Miles, Trade Commissioner for Health & Life Sciences at the Consulate General of Canada in San Francisco | Silicon Valley, and Claire Dixon, Co-founder and COO of Neuraura Biotech Inc.!

Watch this webinar to hear from Iraina and Claire as they discuss the Canadian Technology Accelerator (CTA) for Health, an intensive program run by the Consulate General of Canada in San Francisco. This program offers Canadian companies strategic guidance and resources to help expand their business in the United States through Northern California. Neuraura Biotech Inc. developed fully implantable medical devices with closed-loop recording and stimulation, also known as neuromodulation for individuals living with neurological, psychiatric and sensory conditions. They were part of the 2019 CTA for Health San Francisco Cohort and will speak on their personal experience with the program.

About Iraina Miles, Trade Commissioner for Health & Life Sciences, Consulate General of Canada in San Francisco | Silicon Valley

Working with entrepreneurs from across Canada, Iraina is responsible for the life sciences and digital health sectors in Northern California & Hawaii including venture capital. Iraina works one-on-one with companies looking to navigate the Bay Area ecosystem and leads two of the Consulate’s flagship healthcare programs – Dose of the Valley and the Canadian Technology Accelerator (CTA) for Health. Originally from British Columbia, Iraina holds a Bachelors degree in Political Science from Duke University and a Masters in Dispute Resolution from the University of Victoria. She is a volunteer mediator in San Francisco and Member of the Board for the San Francisco Commission on the Status of Women.

About Claire Dixon, COO and Co-founder, Neuraura

As COO of Neuraura, Claire is responsible for commercial, financial and administrative aspects of establishing and building the business.

Prior to joining Neuraura Claire held a number of senior operational roles at the University of Calgary including Director of MBA Programs, Director of the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and, most recently, Director of Operations of the Creative Destruction Lab – Rockies. She brings more than 20 years of business experience to this role including 15 years as a strategic consultant to technology- and capital- intensive industries. Claire’s key strengths include navigating technical complexity, strategy development and planning and financial and operational modelling.

Claire brings world class academic credentials as she holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a MEng/MA (Cantab.) in Mechanical Engineering from Cambridge University.

In addition to advising startups, Claire is actively involved in the innovation ecosystem including acting as an Entrepreneur in Residence for the Foresight CleanTech Program, judging for Innovation4Health and advising a number of early stage startups.
