Dr. Appoo has over 20 years of experience in clinical heart surgery, managing critically ill patients and making impactful decisions. At the University of Calgary, Jehangir founded new clinical programs in artificial heart surgery and multidisciplinary thoracic aortic surgery. Jehangir is a leader in the field of aortic surgery where he serves on the Editorial Board of the Annals of Thoracic Surgery and co-leads 2 randomized trials in heart surgery. He consults with international medical device companies as to vision of cardiovascular care and pathways to evolve towards. As an Associate at Creative Destruction Lab Rockies and a Scientist at CDL West, Jehangir is creating domain expertise in use of deep technology in healthcare by mentoring and investing in the start-up ecosystem with an aim to help massively scale companies. Jehangir’s focus is on using technological innovation to improve healthcare outcomes whilst maintaining fiscal sustainability.
